Welcome to the Library

The library is at the heart of the office's work to make information about the UN accessible to the public.  From advanced research to basic statistics, the library is a valuable resource.  With its collection of official UN documents, the library has helped complete homework assignments and major publications.  We invite you to use it and see for yourself.

The library is open Monday through Friday by appointment. Please call 202-331-8670 to make an appointment.

The Collection

The library’s collection is always evolving as more resources become available online. The majority of the library’s collection consists of the official records of the General Assembly, Security Council and Economic & Social Council from 1946 to the present. The official records of these bodies include meeting records, annexes (documents by agenda item number issued as an adjunct to the meeting record), supplements (principal reports prepared for consideration at a session), and resolutions.

The library holds the full collection of the UN Yearbook, an exhaustive overview of the work of the organization from year to year.

A selection of publications and videos on topics such as human rights, peacekeeping, drug control, women, population, international law, disarmament and statistical reference fill out the library’s collection.

General Information:
